What is a receptionist?

Hello, this is Clara, the receptionist of Hair Salon Tokyo MICHAELA.
Yesterday I shared about the main duties a receptionist goes through. Today's topic will be about what it takes to being a receptionist in a hair salon.
For the past month we have had a number of applicants who were applying for the part-time receptionist position.
I once said this in 2017 "I would always look forward to each new day with enthusiasm. For all the changes old and new I’ve gone through, each day is never the same where new ideas and new challenges are presented." I personally want to bookmark this as it brings a sense of spirit.
Recently I read that a receptionist plays a vital role in the salon as with the salon owner. The level of thinking has to be in-lined with the salon's vision and the core values of the team which is true, as receptionists can be considered as cornerstones of the team that runs the salon.
Work can just be work but it is never the same without improvements.
Salon management itself, is a wide array of duties ranging from the back end to the front line services and being a frontline employee is a constant activity that runs round the clock with duties lined up one another, one can tell be able to pinpoint in areas lacking and also to mention new areas that could be explored.
It requires a great deal of tenacity, attention, patience and meticulous effort as a team player as well as a heart and passion for customer service. Naturally, the joys of being in this line lies with the direct contact with customers. The time dedicated for customers amidst all other matters is what being a receptionist is.
As I said in my profile, I still do believe that in MICHAELA that the experience is more than just getting the hair done.
That's all for now. Till next time!
P.S. This post goes out to interested applicants, if it seems befitting for you I extend my warm invitation to apply. To the others, thank you for reading.
What I learn in this book

I am Carol from Hair Salon Tokyo Michael, and here I want to share with you a book I saw today. This book gives me another perspective on the service industry knowledge. The title of this book is < the customers rules >. In this book, I saw that these short sentences are very meaningful. For example, "The emotional element isas-even more important than-the money that change hand.", "Customers also need to emotional satisfaction of being treated like the most important " and " the greek word for "hospitality" is philocenia, which literally means "love of strangers",
these short sentences let me understand that we do not In order to benefit but ignore the customer's emotions, we have to treat customers like our own family and friends. These small actions can make customers feel deeply. Finally I want to tell you all that we can encounter a fate. One enemy is worse than one friend.
Thank you.

Recently I heard that one of my customer has been riding a bicycle around home. I was really envious of it but I might probably will lose my way so I will give it a pass this time.
As usual I go to grocery shop by walking so I try to make it better.
But one of things I changed compared to before is the staircase I was always I'm thinking to use.
Working from home with the current situation being busy. So,I am planning to do some exercises on certain occasions. There is meaning in doing it everyday even if it is little by little.
Beauty and health doesn't built up within a day. The most important point in here is doing it on certain occasion that was written in a book which I read for work.
I will use that as reference.
Well, today is part 2 of beauty habit week.
If you are looking for a shampoo after having colored your hair, I recommend this,
CRONNA (milbon )sp 。(^_-)-☆
High concentration carbonated shampoo with mixture charcoal. This is a shampoo for the scalp and color treated hair.
It can remove color stains from scalp and good for scalp care.
CRONNA is ltalian compound word. This means that CRONA is time and DONNA is female.
So,this is a shampoo for female.
All of the female have many kind of tasks everyday, it is hard to make a free time. But they would like to maintain the beauty of the hair to get occasionally praised from other people also, within a time limit.
If you feel like this, this shampoo is especially meant for you.
Immediately I tried using it because I'm busy too!!
My hair length is medium and I can use it for about2 to 3 months
I had some concerns about the smell of my scalp and the itching as my scalp is sensitive. But after I used it, l no longer worry about the smell and itching anymore.
Furthermore, it has a great effect to colored hair, that's to protect color as it is.
That's why you will keep the beautiful color after some time passes.
And white or grey won't be noticeable anymore.
After all you can get rid of stress and develop your female traits more.
The way of using this shampoo, please observe the following.
See you (・ω・)ノ

Today's topic will be about what's a day like in MICHAELA as a receptionist.
In the morning, all the staff will gather for a briefing and announcements for the day's agenda. And also with the recent step-up in precautionary measures for COVID-19, we have temperature checks for all present staffs.
After the briefing, each of us will move on to start preparing the salon for opening, with general cleaning from the reception area to the salon floor.
Just about time for opening of the salon, the receptionist will be on standy at the counter to greet and receive our very first few customers for the day.
When the customers arrive, they will be guided to the seat of salon floor and served drinks.
For the time in between customers arrivals and payments throughout the day:
- service sheets for the upcoming payment would be ready
- Enquiries via SNS, Whatsapp will be replied
- new reservations via phonecalls or from our online booking platform would taken
- stylists would be informed of any new updates from customers
- both online and physical copy of the reservation schedule for the upcoming days or weeks would be checked and updated
- customer's service sheet for the next day would be prepared
During the last hour, evening cleanup would be the last duty to end the day.
Till next time!
